A lagoon (the origin of the word is the Arabic البحيرة al-buhayra, “the little sea”), also called a lagoon in Latin America, is a coastal lagoon of salty or slightly brackish water, separated from the sea by a tongue or sand ridge but in communication with the sea by one or more points. Its formation is usually due to the clogging of an old bay by the contributions of marine or fluvial sediments. From Valencia to Albufera there are always buses. Ask our staff at Purple Nest Hostel how to get to this park.
